AMA, NCI, AMWA and Other Major Medical Societies Collaborate with 18th Annual Congress on Women’s Health
New Rochelle, NY, March 9, 2010—The American Medical Association, National Cancer Institute, and American Medical Women’s Association are collaborating with over 900 physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals who will gather in Washington, DC on March 26-28, 2010 to learn practical, clinical information and cutting-edge therapeutic protocols, advances in diagnosis and management, and innovative translational research advances that impact women’s health care. Women’s Health 2010: The 18th Annual Congress is sponsored by the VCU Institute for Women’s Health and Journal of Women’s Health, in collaboration with National Cancer Institute and the American Medical Association. This year’s Congress also marks the 95th Anniversary meeting of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), an organization devoted to the advancement of women in medicine and the improvement of women's health. The Institute for Professional Education is a co-sponsor of the Congress. Other Collaborating Organizations include the DHHS Office of Research on Women’s Health, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association, American College of Physicians-Virginia Chapter, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American Thyroid Association, Arthritis Foundation, DHHS Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, National Women's Health Resource Center, The North American Menopause Society, The Obesity Society, The Society for the Advancement of Women’s Health Research, and WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease.
Congress Chair Wendy S. Klein, MD, Senior Deputy Director Emeritus of the VCU Institute for Women's Health, a National Center of Excellence, Richmond, VA, and Deputy Editor of Journal of Women’s Health, Co-Chair Susan G. Kornstein, MD, Executive Director of the VCU Institute for Women's Health and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Women’s Health, and AMWA Co-Chairs Laurel A. Waters, MD, and Eliza Lo Chin, MD, MPH, will bring together outstanding faculty of the highest caliber. An array of informative sessions will focus on the most clinically relevant topics in women’s health including cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, menopause, infectious disease, reproductive health, bone health, psychiatry, and common clinical conditions.
