Manuscript Submission

Please submit manuscripts that are to be considered for publication online using the following URL:

http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/interferoncytokine

Manuscripts can be submitted for regular or expedited review. For the latter, the authors are guaranteed to receive a review back within three weeks after receipt of the manuscript at the Journal office.

Expedited Review. All manuscripts must be submitted through the JICR Manuscript Central website with figures and tables. Expedited Review submissions should be short reports describing significant advances in an area of interferon or cytokine biology. Conclusions should be novel and fully justified by the data presented. A final decision including the referees’ critiques will be forwarded to the corresponding author within a three-week period from the receipt of the complete manuscript at the editorial office.

The cost for this service is $250.00 and is paid by the corresponding author. At the time of online submission, select Expedited Review as Manuscript Type. A payment window will appear when all files have been downloaded. We accept American Express/ Optima, VISA, and MasterCard.

Regular Review. The review process may be expedited by submitting the names of five potential reviewers. You may enter these during the submission process. The address of the corresponding author should include street number and name.

Statement of Purpose and Policy. Journal of Interferon & Cytokine Research publishes original articles (full and short communications) and reviews in the field of interferon and cytokine research. As indicated by the broad scope of interests represented by the editorial board, Journal of Interferon & Cytokine Research will consider articles covering all aspects of interferon and cytokine research ranging from the molecular biology of interferon and cytokine systems to their use in the clinic.

Journal of Interferon & Cytokine Research only publishes reports of original research that have not appeared in any other primary publications.

Full and Short Communications and Reviews. The Journal will publish full and short communications and reviews. The short communication should present observations that are complete but do not require a full-length text. Section headings should not be used in the body of a short communication. Both the text and the number of figures should be kept to a minimum. Reference citations require full titles and complete pagination. Short communications undergo the same review process as full communications.

Reviews should represent areas of topical interest in fundamental research in interferons and cytokines or their use in the clinic. Full communications should be presented in the format described below.

PAGE CHARGES

To help defray the cost of printing, the Publisher requests that page charges, currently $65 per printed page, be paid by all authors who have funds available from research grants or from their institutions. These payments are not a prerequisite for the publication of any article.

NOTE. All submitted manuscripts will be processed through plagiarism detection software. Plagiarized manuscripts will be rejected immediately.

Preparation of Manuscript. All manuscripts should be submitted double-spaced, with ample margins. Enter the title of the article, the names and e-mail addresses of all authors, and a running title of about 40 characters. We require a valid e-mail address for each author listed on your article. Supply an abstract of no more than 200 words stating the aims, results, and conclusions drawn from the study. Reference citations are not permitted in the abstract. Full articles should follow the format of: Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, References. References require full titles and complete pagination. Number pages consecutively and include the first author’s name on each page. At the end of the article, give the name and complete address to whom reprint requests should be directed: include phone, fax, and e-mail if desired. Follow the protocol described herein to avoid delays in publication. Consult a recent issue of the Journal for the exact format.

Tables and Illustrations. Use Arabic numerals to number tables. Remember, each table must stand alone, i.e., contain all necessary information in the caption, and the table itself must be understood independently of the text. Information that appears in the text should not be repeated in tables, and tables should not contain data that can be given in the text in one or two sentences.

Below are the guidelines for the submission of artwork:

  •  Line illustrations should be submitted at 1200 DPI.

  • Halftones and color should be submitted at a minimum of 300 DPI.

  • Save art as either TIFF or EPS files.

  • Color art must be saved as CYMK—not RGB.

  • Powerpoint files are NOT accepted. Please upload images in Adobe format.

When naming your figure files, please label them with the submitting author’s last name, followed by a period (.), and then list the figure number. Ex: Smith.Figl. Label figures and tables within the files in addition to naming the file with the figure or table number. (ie: When figures or table files are opened, the figure or table number should appear inside the file.)

IMPORTANT:

Please upload individual files of all manuscript material—do NOT upload a single PDF file containing all text, figure, and table files of your article. Once all individual files are uploaded on to Manuscript Central, the system will automatically create a single PDF proof for you and the peer-review process.

References. A complete list of authors, titles, and page numbers must be included in each reference. Each reference must be cited in the text and listed in parentheses with author last name and year of publication (see examples below; three or more authors should be listed as Author and others 2005). Reference list must be typed double spaced and references listed alphabetically. When data from an unpublished source are given, supply complete information, e.g., the researcher’s name and location. If work is in press, give the journal in which it is to be published.
