Manuscript Submission

Rejuvenation Research is an international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed academic journal that covers all aspects of biology and biomedicine relevant to the combating, and ultimately the reversal, of age-related physiological and cognitive decline, in nonhuman species and eventually in humans.  To help defray the cost of printing, the Publisher requests that page charges of $50 per printed page be paid by all authors who have funds available from research grants or from their institutions. It should be noted that ability to pay page charges is not a prerequisite for publication in the Journal.

Only manuscripts that conform with guidelines contained herein will be considered for publication. All manuscripts are subject to peer review. Manuscripts are received with the explicit understanding that they are not under simultaneous consideration by any other publication and have not already been published. Submission of an article for publication implies the transfer of the copyright from the author to the Publisher upon acceptance. Accepted papers become the permanent property of Rejuvenation Research and may not be reproduced by any means, in whole or in part, without the written consent of the Publisher.

Manuscript Submission and Copyright Agreement Form

Manuscripts should be submitted with the understanding that they have neither been published, nor are under consideration for publication elsewhere, except in the form of an abstract. Prior abstract publications should be described in the form of a footnote to the title. Published manuscripts become the sole property of the Journal and will be copyrighted by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. By submitting a manuscript to the Journal, the author(s) agree(s) to each of the above conditions. In addition, the author(s) explicitly assign(s) any copyrighted ownership he/she (they) may have in such manuscript to the Journal.

Upon acceptance of any manuscript, all authors will receive a follow-up email with instructions on how to complete our online Copyright Agreement form.  It is critical to ensure the accuracy of ALL authors’ email addresses when uploading submissions to Manuscript Central to ensure the proper delivery of all email communications.

FAILURE BY ALL AUTHORS TO SUBMIT THIS FORM MAY RESULT IN A DELAY OF PUBLICATION.

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with coauthors to make sure they have completed the online copyright form. Authors not permitted to release copyright must still return the form acknowledging the statement of the reason for not releasing the copyright.

Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted online using the following url:

http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/rejuvenationresearch

Text must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document and figures as TIFF files at 600 dpi. Submit the text and figure legends as one file but do not include figures OR tables in the main file. Each figure and table should be submitted as a separate file.

Note: All studies involving human or animal subjects should have approval or stated exemption from the author’s institutional review board or animal subject review committee. In research involving human subjects, informed consent must have been obtained in writing as well. Briefly describe the nature of such approval, exemption, or consent in the cover letter. Briefly specify the responsibility of each listed author or consultant in the research, preparation or writing.

Manuscript

Double space only (not 1.5 spacing) and format for printing on 8.5 X 11-inch white paper with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Font size should be no smaller than 12 pt. Number each page, beginning with the title page. The parts of the manuscript should appear in the following order: title page, abstract, main text, acknowledgements, references, tables, figure legends.

The maximum length for Literature Review papers is 6000 words (not including abstract, legends, and references); there should be no more than 150 references and six figures or tables. The maximum length for Correspondence is 1000 words; no more than 10 references and one figure or table. For all other categories the maximum length is 4000 words (not including abstract, legends and references), with no more than 70 references and seven figures or tables.

Title Page

Include the full title, authors’ names, authors’ full affiliation, information, the phrase “word count” followed by the number of words in the main text (excluding abstract, figures, legend, and references), the phrase “address for correspondence and reprints” followed by the full name, complete mailing address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address of the communicating author, a list of between three and six keywords, and an abbreviated title of at most 45 characters including spaces.

Please be sure to include all authors’ affiliations on the title page. An e-mail, telephone and fax numbers, and mailing address are required on the title page for the corresponding author only.

Abstract

The abstract should be no more than 250 words. Do not include any abbreviations or references in the abstract.

Tables and Figures

Each table or figure should be in a separate file. Table legends should appear above the table on the same page; figure legends should appear together at the end of the main document. The information portrayed in figures must be self-explanatory, containing sufficient information (together with the legend) that it can be understood clearly without reference to the text. Each figure should be clearly labeled within the figure itself, not just in the file name. Information should not be given in a table if it can be given in the text in one or two sentences. Illustrations can be printed in color upon subsidy from the author and are encouraged; contact the Publisher for details.

Please follow these guidelines for submitting figures:

• Do NOT embed art files into a Word or PDF document.
• Line illustrations should be submitted at 600 dpi.
• Halftones and color should be submitted at a minimum of 300 dpi.
• Save as either TIFF or EPS files.
• Color art must be saved as CYMK - not RGB.
• Black and White art must be submitted as grayscale – not RGB.
• Do NOT submit PowerPoint, PDF, Bitmap or Excel files.

Please name your artwork files with the submitting authors name i.e. SmithFig1.tif, SmithTable2.tif etc. Authors who do not file these guidelines may have their submission returned to them without being reviewed.

You will be given directions on how to correct any files which do not pass.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT ART FILES

• All files should be scanned at 100% size
• 300 dpi
• Final color mode: cmyk
• save file as: .tif or .eps

Disclosure Statement

Immediately following the Acknowledgments section, include a section entitled “Author Disclosure Statement.” In this portion of the paper, authors must disclose any commercial associations that might create a conflict of interest in connection with submitted manuscripts. This statement should include appropriate information for EACH author, thereby representing that competing financial interests of all authors have been appropriately disclosed according to the policy of the Journal. It is important that all conflicts of interest, whether they are actual or potential, be disclosed. This information will remain confidential while the paper is being reviewed and will not influence the editorial decision. Please see the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals at http://www.icmje.org/index.htlm#conflicts for further guidance. If no conflicts exist, the authors must state “No competing financial interests exist."

References

Double space all references. Number each reference consecutively in the manuscript in order of citation. Number references consecutively (not alphabetically) in the reference section. Abbreviations of journal titles should follow MEDLINE.  List the names of all authors—do not use et al. Accuracy of citation is the responsibility of the authors; remember that inaccurate references are highly frustrating to the reader, the cited author, and indexing services.

Examples of correct citation include:

Personal Communications

If such a reference is necessary, include the name, title, month, and year as well as a letter granting permission to publish from the person providing the information. Personal communication references should be included in the reference list in order of citation.

Permissions

The author must obtain permission to reproduce figures, tables, or text from previously published material. Written permission must be obtained from the original copyright holder (generally the publisher, not the author or editor) of the journal or book concerned and should be supplied to the Editor-in-Chief of Rejuvenation Research. An appropriate acknowledgement should be included to reflect the permission and full publication information cited in the references. Written permission must be obtained from the author of any unpublished material cited from other laboratories, and should accompany the submitted manuscript.
