Brain and Gut is a new peer-reviewed journal providing original research on a whole-systems approach to the relationship between the nervous and digestive systems. The Journal is dedicated to exploring the role of the microbiome and a vast array of physical interrelationships, which underlie human disease, including inflammation, immunity, neurotransmitter production, and the clinical manifestations of disturbances of these processes. Such disturbances include inflammatory disorders throughout the body, digestive disorders, cognitive issues, mood disturbances, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and cancer.

Brain and Gut will deliver laboratory and clinical research providing an in-depth understanding of complex clinical situations and interventional strategies for patients suffering from brain, gut, and body dysfunctions.

Brain and Gut coverage includes:

  • Immunological implications of the interaction between the central and enteric nervous systems
  • Prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal, neurological, and immune system disorders
  • The roles of neuroinflammation, gastrointestinal inflammation and immunoinflammation in metabolic disorders
  • Central nervous dysfunction in functional gastrointestinal disorders
  • Environmental impact on brain function and gastrointestinal immune development
  • Food-immune reactivities and additives in neurological and neurobehavioral disorders

Brain and Gut is under the editorial leadership of Editor-in-Chief David Perlmutter, MD, University of Miami, School of Medicine; Editors Gerard E.
