User Accounts

Signing in

To sign in, click "My Liebert Connect" or "Sign In" in the masthead of the site and enter your username and password. Please note that both are case sensitive. Sign out by clicking "Log out" in the menu bar.

If you're having trouble signing in, you may be entering the wrong username or password. does not recognize usernames from other sites (for example, library or society webpages).


Benefits of a user account

Creating a user account is free, and is required for accessing personal subscriptions or administering an institutional subscription.

In addition, offers many features that are available to registered users only. These include free registration for Table of Contents e-mail alerts, citation tracking, saved searches, and more.


Updating your contact information

To update your contact information or e-mail address, click "My Liebert Connect" in the masthead of the site followed by "My Account" in the submenu. Correct your contact information as necessary, then scroll down and click "Submit."


Creating a new user account

To create a new user account, click "My Liebert Connect" or "Register" in the masthead of the site. Select a username and password and supply additional information to create your account. The information that you provide will be held in the strictest confidence.

When creating a new account you will be asked to recognize and type a word appearing in a distorted image. This is a security precaution that prevents automated applications (or "robots") from creating user accounts. Some browsers may have trouble displaying this image. If you cannot recognize the word, please contact us.


Changing your password

To change your password, click "My Liebert Connect" in the masthead of the site followed by "My Account" in the submenu. Enter your old password and new password twice, then scroll down and click "Submit." Please note that passwords are case sensitive.


Retrieving a forgotten password

Retrieve a forgotten password by entering the e-mail address provided when you created your user account. You will receive an e-mail containing your password.

If your e-mail address has changed, or if you are otherwise unable to retrieve your password, please contact us.


Privacy policy

Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. respects your privacy. Information you provide to us during or after registration is used for administrative purposes only, and will not be disclosed to third parties without your written consent.

How to Obtain Usage Data

Click the Institutional administration tab of your Profile, then select the Usage Data tab.

In the section entitled Cumulative Page Access Report, use the dropdown menus to select report Type and Year.

In the Format section, you can then choose how you will view the report. To view the report in your browser, choose HTML table. Select Tab delimited text file to download a spreadsheet-readable file to your local hard disk. Alternatively, you may have the system Email the report to the email address you enter in the available field (usually your own email address). After making your choice, click Get Report.

How to Interpret Usage Data

The self-service usage data report available on the Administrator Homepage includes the number of accesses for each of the series on the site, and a cumulative count of usage of all these series within your institution. The report gives a breakdown of usage for the following pages:

Abstracts: available for non-subscribed to journals as well as subscriptions.

Full-text PDF: the full article in PDF format, mainly used for printing.

Full-text HTML: the full article in HTML format, fully searchable and with embedded links.

Full-text Total: combination of full-text PDF and full-text HTML accesses.

The data reported is an accurate reflection of the data recorded by our site. However, it is important to take into consideration several factors that can both affect the data itself and your interpretation of it.

Factors Causing High Log Readings

Some users will double click on HTML links or buttons rather than single clicking. This causes 2 requests to the server not one and the server has no way of knowing if the user meant to click twice or not, so both are recorded.

Some users click the REFRESH button or the browser Back and then Forward buttons. This causes additional counts.

Some browsers actually make more than one request to the server for the same page even if the user only clicks once. This is particularly the case with Microsoft IE.

We are logging requests for pages, not actual pages delivered. This means that if a user clicks on an article that they do not have access rights for this is counted as a use (although the user will not get access to the full-text). We are working on a method of separating requests from pages delivered but in the meantime you may find this useful as a way of measuring demand for non-subscribed journals.

Factors Causing Low Log Readings

Caching is a process whereby some files (usually PDFs and graphics files) are stored locally, either within a library or by an internet service provider so that when these files are requested, they are served locally rather than from the publisher's server. This means that these files can be accessed faster and network traffic is reduced. If a local cache serves the file then our site doesn't know about it and the access will not be counted.

The data reported includes accesses from computers within your specified IP range. It does not include accesses using the remote username and password. We are currently developing new reports that will allow us to report separately on both IP access and remote user access.

We have improved the process for extracting hits from the raw data logs. This means that the data now supplied automatically may differ from previously supplied manual data, particularly the abstracts data. Please note that the automatically generated data now available is the most accurate version, bearing in mind the factors outlined above.

COUNTER Compliance

Being COUNTER compliant means that the method of measuring and reporting of usage statistics meets the standards set by the COUNTER Code of Practice.

Current versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, and Opera are all supported. We recommend Firefox (available as a free download) as the fastest and most stable browser when accessing this site.


Adding and Updating IP Addresses

End users can be authenticated as organization members based on their IP address. If an IP address is associated with an organization, end users who access the website from that IP address are given access to the organization’s licensed content. Administrators can manage the IP addresses associated with their organization through their user account.
